Product Care Information

We really hope you like and enjoy our quality Orkney Storehouse products. All our products are made in the UK. Our fine bone china is made in Stoke on Trent and our beautiful range of homeware, all 100% cotton, is produced in Lincolnshire. In order to get the best use and retain the quality of your purchase, we’ve provided some helpful tips and guidelines below:

Fine Bone China

Hand wash

Rinse off any remaining food or liquid shortly after use, as this will help prevent staining. Wash in hot soapy water using a soft sponge and mild liquid detergent. Dry and stack carefully.

Dishwasher

Our fine bone china is dishwasher safe. When using the dishwasher, select a lower temperature and short wash cycle, followed by an immediate rinse cycle to ensure removal of all detergent. We recommend a mild liquid detergent is used in order to maintain appearance and colour.

Microwave

All our china products are microwave safe.

General Care

It is safe to warm your fine bone china plates in the warming compartment of your oven up to 60°C (140°F). China should never be placed in contact with a direct flame or subjected to extreme temperature change. Always gently swill your teapot with hot water before adding boiling water, and add milk/cream into your mugs first before adding boiling water to your tea or coffee. Fine bone china should not be used for cooking purposes and is not suitable for use in the freezer.

Should your fine bone china mugs develop any stains over time, we suggest using a tablespoon of bicarbonate of soda, or a slice of lemon and add warm water to your mug and let it soak for several hours. Then simply wipe with a soft cloth and rinse.

Textiles

The fabric used in our beautiful range of homeware is 100% cotton. Please adhere to all the appropriate wash care labels for each item as shown on the care label or as detailed on this website.

Always check the product care labels and set your washing machine to the recommended temperature and wash cycle. Cotton is highly susceptible to shrinking at high temperatures and to avoid shrinkage, most cotton items should be washed in warm or cold water. Line drying outside is preferable, however some of our products can be tumble dried at a low temperature.

Please iron on the recommended settings using a steam iron. For best results, iron on the reverse side where possible when the fabrics are slightly damp as this will help to eliminate creasing.
